I am not a Republican and I do not know any Republicans. However, I do think it is worth noting that the shooter said that he self-described himself as a “left-wing authoritarian”, not a “mainstream Republican” like that Rolling Stone article says. Do you think that the two parties are symmetrically dangerous, though? Because people will point out that the Dems are a center-right party with a mildly social democratic voting base and that GOP is...well, see my piece above on what the GOP has become.

Thanks! I hadn't seen that! I would imagine that a lot of Republicans are inside a certain bubble that causes them to not hear certain criticisms.
I am sure they are. Both parties are like cults imo. You have to tow the line always or you get kicked out.
