European leaders are going along for a variety of reasons. One is that elite opinion is far more hawkish than the general public, not unusual. Another is the intimate linkage between US-EU business worlds. It’s being strained in all sorts of ways. Right now, for example, the Netherlands, a major part of the international chip industry, is refusing to go along with the war on China that Biden just declared.
